Through many tribulations we must enter the Kingdom of God. (Acts 14:22.) After the Fall, human life was filled with labor, illness and suffering. And therefore, the virtue of patience is absolutely necessary for a Christian (understanding by perfect patience the complacent enduring of sorrows and suffering). And to strengthen the virtue of patience, an Orthodox Christian must constantly remember that everything that happens to us happens according to the Will of God, is given to us for our good and contributes to our Salvation.
