This volume contains the stories and stories of 23 writers of the GDR of the older generation, standing at the origins of the literature of the GDR and established themselves not only in German, in and in world literature. The central motif of many stories is the anti-fascist, anti-war theme. They represent Germany of the fascist era, disgraced by Hitler’s crimes. Against the background of the bloody history of the “Third Reich”, against the background of the ongoing struggle, the fates of the best sons and daughters of the German people come to life. Another theme is the reflection of the current reality of the GDR, the introduction of millions to the work rhythm of the Republic, its affairs and plans, the blood connection of the heroes with the life of the state, for the first time in German history building socialism.
