In 1955, she saw the light of "Lolita" - the third American novel by Vladimir Nabokov, the creator of "Protection of Luzhin", "Desperation", "Invitations to execution" and "Dara" .. Having caused a scandal on both sides of the ocean, this book took the author to the top of the literary Olympus and became one of the most famous and, without a doubt, the greatest works of the 20th century. Today, when the polemical passions around Lolita have long subsided, we can confidently say that this is a book about great love that overcame illness, death and time, love open to infinity, “love at first sight, from the last sight, from the eternal gaze”. This edition of the book can be considered unique in its own way: for the first time a fragment of Humbert’s diary from the third chapter of the second part of the novel is restored, which was absent in all previous Russian-language editions of Lolita.
