Organo-silicon polymer compounds began to be used in industry only in 1949. Our knowledge and experience are based so far on several dozen known organo-silicon polymers. There is no doubt that in the very near future the number of technically valuable silicon-organic polymers will increase dramatically, and our national economy will receive new valuable materials based on them. But science is moving on, and already now in the laboratories synthesize polymers, in which the chains of molecules are built not only of silicon and oxygen atoms, but also contain atoms and other elements - aluminum, titanium, magnesium, tin, chromium, boron, which brings them closer to silicates. These polymers make it possible to reduce the difference in properties that exists so far between organic polymers and inorganic silicate substances. It is necessary to more decisively invade this little-studied area between organic and inorganic chemistry. In this area, new substances can be found that have properties that cannot be created by the synthesis of organic polymers or purely inorganic substances. The book discusses the features of the structure of silicone polymers, their properties and application in various fields of technology and life.
