The films of Andrei Tarkovsky became a revelation for many in Soviet times. Even now they do not leave the viewer indifferent. In “Stalker,” the director’s genius is fully manifested: the linear plot of the Strugatskys’ story turns into a multi-level picture, which secretly talks about God, happiness, faith and unbelief. Priest Dimitry Baritsky (candidate of theology, teacher at the departments of biblical studies and philology at the Moscow Orthodox Theological Academy) offers one of the readings of this film.
