Blyth Reginald Horace (1898 - 1964) - English researcher of the culture and religions of China and Japan. Student and follower of D.T. Suzuki. He first visited Japan in 1924 and taught English literature at Keijou University until the outbreak of World War II. At the end of the 40s. worked at Hakushuin University, lectured at the University of Tokyo. A number of Blis's works are devoted to the history of Indian philosophy, the formation of the teachings and religious practice of Buddhism in China and Japan. He was a popularizer of Zen ideas in the West.
