Publishing a translation of Gelders' 1936 novel Air War , We do not mean so much the literary qualities of this work ,. trying to depict in artistic form a possible picture of a future war , How many thoughts of a competent author in military matters , outline a number of expected in the coming years technical advances in the field of aviation and seeking to specifically present that impact, what should these achievements have to do with forms of tactical and operational art. For these reasons, we have excluded from the translation all those places that are not directly relevant to the coverage of the military issues raised by the author and are intended only to make his work more suitable for "easy reading". Therefore, the whole romantic part of the translation should naturally have fallen out of the translation. Undoubtedly, the thoughts of the author of this book will be of considerable interest not only to our "airmen", but also to the wider circles of the Red Army.
