This book originated from lectures I gave in NovemberDecember 1951. in several American universities - Yale, Princeton, Columbia, Chicago and others. In the beginning, I put as an appropriate introduction The Tale of Two Conversations, written by me in 1932. , and also included here an essay "Love of God and the Idea of God", written in 1943. In the section "Religion and Philosophy", I used some excerpts from an address on this issue, which I opened with a meeting of the Schopenhauer Society on this topic in Frankfurt am Main in 1929.
