However, the desire of the compilers to tell about how Soviet art developed in wartime, to show the role of art in mobilizing the people to fight the enemy, brought to life a book that highlights the history of Soviet art during this important historical period. In the "Introduction" formulated the main task of the art of wartime - "to make art an effective weapon in the people's war, to show the hardships of the people and sing their courage." It tells about the restructuring of the artistic life of the country in relation to the tasks and conditions of wartime, about the search for new types and forms of agitation art. It marks new features that have developed in art during the war, for example, the promotion of graphics, especially its agitation and satirical genres.
