This collection is the Proceedings of the meeting on electronic phenomena in catalysis and adsorption, organized by. the Institute of Physical Chemistry of the USSR Academy of Sciences 16 April 1954. At the meeting were reported theoretical and experimental works of Soviet scientists, performed in scientific institutions and educational institutions of Moscow, Leningrad and Kiev. These works characterize the main directions in the field of studying electronic phenomena incatalysis and adsorption, developed in the USSR. The meeting was attended by more than 200 scientists representing 35 institutions working in the field of catalysis in the Soviet Union .. Reports are grouped in a collection by topic. ReportC. 3. Rogyansky "Development of electronic direction in the theory ofcatalysis" is introductory in nature. Two speeches in the discussion on the reports containing large original material are designed by the authors in the form of separate articles are published in this collection as independent reports (I. N. Barschevsky and L. A. Nikolaev "Features of buildingactive centers in photocatalysis", A. A. Krasnovsky "Some Questions of Photocatalysis"). Statements that are not of a principled nature or have no direct relevance to the topic of discussion were not included in the collection. All placed performances are corrected and supplemented by their authors. The editors hope that the publication of the Proceedings of the meeting on electronic phenomena in catalysis and adsorption will contribute to the further rapid development of this new direction. Finally, I would like to thank G.. K. Boreskova and G. x1. For participation in the discussion of the plan and materials of the collection and for valuable advice on certain issues .
