Under the title "Untimely Thoughts" published Maxim Gorky in his edited Petrograd newspaper "New Life" most of his journalistic articles in 1917-1918. This was the most fruitful period in the activities of Gorky-publicist .. Since the preparation by the Bolsheviks of a violent coup and their policy after the seizure of power were in contradiction with the political program of the New Life, Bolshevik actions received a sharply negative assessment on its pages. At the same time, Gorky played a prominent role in the criticism of Bolshevism .. The controversy between "New Life" and "Truth" has become a frequent occurrence.
