A gyroscope is a body of rotation (for example, a massive disk) brought into rapid rotation around the axis of symmetry. The first acquaintance with a gyroscope usually occurs in early childhood when observing the unusual behavior of a famous toy - a children's wolf or a yula. As long as the top spins quickly, it can stand steady at the sharp end of its axis, maintaining the vertical position of the axis and not falling on a horizontal plane, although the center of gravity of the top is located above the support point. If the axis of the rotating wolf is deflected from the vertical, then under the influence of gravity, the axis describes in space a circular cone with a vertical axis, so that the angle of inclination of the axis remains unchanged. This movement of the wolf is called forced precession .. This article provides a brief theoretical explanation of forced precession, which is illustrated by a small modeling computer program "Forced precession of the gyroscope". This program (Java applet) does not require pre-installation on the computer, but is performed directly in the browser (with a virtual Java machine connected to it)
