The construction and service of frigates is an important stage in the development of domestic shipbuilding and the fleet, the first experience in the design and construction of a large series of large armored ships at domestic shipyards, from domestic materials. They served not only as reliable protection for the shores of the Baltic, but also for many years as a source of personnel for the Russian fleet.
