Edna St. Vincent Millay (1892–1950) was the first poet to win the Pulitzer Prize; one of the most famous US poets of the 20th century. Classical in form (mainly sonnets), deep and unusually bold in content, E. Millay’s love and philosophical lyrics won her fame during her lifetime. Translations from Edna St. Vincent Millay into Russian are few. The most successful were the transcriptions by Mikhail Zenkevich and Margarita Aliger. Maria Redkina has been translating Milley's poems for many years. Her work was highly appreciated by A. Steinberg and A. Revich, whose seminars she attended. Published as a separate book for the first time, these translations will be a gift for all admirers of the poetess’s work.
