I remember how I got into the Zone and almost stayed in it forever. Before the “last trip,” I visited the Chernobyl Anomalous Zone more than once as part of scientific expeditions. I was once a scientist. I studied the Zone. I worked on anomalies and artifacts; my colleagues and I managed to explain some phenomena. The expedition, or as I now call it, the walk, was to be the last in the research program. And she really was the last. For my colleagues, for the military stalkers assigned to accompany me, and for the scientist nicknamed the Professor, that is, me. That walk claimed the lives of twenty people, but “gave birth” to a new stalker. Stalker, who at first did not understand who he had become, that his old life was over, that he would never return to his family, to his beloved, to his work, habits, weaknesses and hobbies. He did not know that he would return to live to the Zone, which will become part of it. And that the Zone will bring this former scientist, and now a stalker, together with its most terrible inhabitants... That this stalker is destined to become the new “soldier” of the Zone. Only now the “soldier” will go against his “master”. The zone has miscalculated. The zone has created its worst enemy...
