Collective scientific work "Polystoria : Tsars, Saints, Mythmakers in Medieval Europe" appeared as a result of research conducted by the HSE Laboratory for Medieval Studies on the problems of the history of medieval Europe - both its Latin part and the Orthodox, as well as various forms of interaction between them. The book deals with a wide range of issues, previously either not at all or insufficiently studied - from the features of historical anthroponyms in Kievan Rus and Scandinavia to attempts to create a "correct" picture of the past among the Western Slavs and in the Moscow kingdom. Along with this, the main milestones of the history of the Abkhazian kingdom are outlined, the complex wanderings of the famous “Prayer of Gertrude” are traced, unknown sides of Scholasticism of the XII-XIII centuries are revealed. and revealed unexpected features of Orthodox religiosity at the turn of the Middle Ages and early modern times. For historians, philologists, religious scholars and political scientists.
