This tutorial is intended for students of the 5th year studying French as a second foreign language and aimed at developing practical skills of linguistic analysis of an excerpt from the fiction text in French. The manual focuses on the structure and methodology of the analysis of artistic work. The first part examines the artistic structure of the work (theme, Problems, tonality), literary level (the story,) Characters, artistic time and space) and speech level (compositional-speech structure and system of stylistic means) , status of the narrator in the work, types of text. Particular attention in the manual is paid to the study of the means of expression of different levels of all that affects the formation of the style of the writer. Exercises given in the manual develop the ability to conduct a linguistic analysis of the proposed passage. The second part of the manual is a collection of unadapted excerpts from the works of French writers of the 19th-20th centuries, which reflect the diversity of styles and the richness of language material. Special formulas and clichés are designed to help students in the initial stages of text analysis.
