The book contains centuries-old folklore of Iran - quatrains of various forms, ritual and lyrical songs recorded mostly in Shiraz, as well as in neighboring regions of the country. Unknown composers and performers of quatrains and other types of oral creativity sang about love, about the beauty of the beloved, about the joys of a date, about the sufferings of an undivided feeling, about loyalty and infidelity. In many poems, patriotic motives are heard, the problems of social inequality, good and evil are raised. The poetic imagery of Iranian folklore, its symbols are closely related to the images of nature, the animal and plant world.
