Guillaume Apollinaire (18801918) one of the most significant names in the history of European literature having completed the classical period of French poetry, he opened the horizons of the “new lyrical consciousness”. His poetic “Bestiary” (1911), books “Alcohols” (1913) and “Calligrams” (1918) largely determined the ways of further development and existence of poetry. For the first time in Russia, the three-volume Apollinaire Works Collection brings to the reader’s trial brilliant samples of his lyrics. The first volume of the Collected Works includes the author's poetry collections, the parable "The Wrathful Wizard" (1909), Apollinaire's theater is presented with his famous play "The Breasts of Tyresia" (1917), in the preface to which the word "surrealism" first appeared, picked up by the poet's closest followers.
