This book has developed from many sources as they live in the prayer system of the Church, in the experience of clergy and pastoral counseling. The direct material for this collection was the conversations of Archimandrite John (Peasant), which were held in the seventies in the Pskov-Pechersk monastery on the first week of Lent, after reading the penitential canon of Andrew of Crete .. Many remembered those evenings of trembling penitential standing before the living and near God and their own conscience, and remembered the disproving and healing word of pastoral edification .. Conversations were recorded. Naturally, when rewriting and reprinting, many errors appeared in them .. Publishing conversations at the request of pilgrims and parishioners, we sought not only to eliminate errors, but also to preserve the most colloquial intonation. "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!" By publishing these talks, we hope that they will help at least some to hear and fulfill this God's call.
