The work of Sartre “Imaginary” (“L’Imaginaire”) is a work of a famous philosopher, created in the late 30s and revealing the strong influence of the phenomenological works E. already published by that time. Husserl . The author seemed to fulfill the task of the teacher, who outlined the main directions of phenomenological description of all kinds of objects of intentional consciousness. Sartre chooses one of the most significant and intriguing abilities of the human mind imagination. In L'Imagination, which appeared a little earlier, he conducts a critical analysis of theories of the mental image that have appeared since the time of Descartes. Now, following the basic methodological thought of Husserl, he undertakes to carry out a phenomenological description of the activity of the imagination and the noematic correlate of this activity - the imaginary image. Sartre's pre-war work retains its importance both in the application of fundamental philosophical methodologies and in the theory of art and the subject of artistic creativity. The author's meticulous phenomenological description is an extremely instructive experience, and in addition, it is closely connected with the author's literary work, in particular, with the novel Nausea, which appeared around the same time. "Imaginary" closes Sartre's series of works on psychology. That the "Imaginary" is a book on psychology, studying its person is convinced immediately, faced with an abundance of it special, purely psychological material (especially a lot of it in the second and third parts of the book). And yet we are not just a book on psychology . This is a philosophical book .. This is a book on the philosophy of psychology .. It's more about philosophy than psychology. It is also important that it was published only three years before “Being and Nothingness” was published. Time is short. Therefore, it is not surprising that in the “Imaginary” you can find the germs of those philosophical ideas that have reached maturity in “Being and Nothingness”.
