"Martin Chaslewitt" . The Life and Adventures of Martin Chuzzlewit (often simply Martin Chuzzlewit) is a novel by Charles Dickens. It was published in separate editions in 1843-1844. The book reflected the author's impressions of a trip to the United States in 1842, in many ways negative. The novel is dedicated to a friend of Dickens - a millionaire philanthropist Angela Burdett-Coots . Martin Chezlvit was translated into Russian in 1844 and published in the journal Domestic Notes. In a review of Russian literature for 1844 B. G. Belinsky noted the "extraordinary maturity of the author's talent", calling "Martin Chaslewit" "almost the best novel of the gifted Dickens" (V.) G. Belinsky, Sobr . see. , M. 1948, t. II, p. 700. ).
