The first volume of the works of the outstanding Yugoslav writer of the 20th century, Nobel Prize winner Ivo Andric (1892-1975) includes stories and short stories (sections "The Cursed Yard" and "Thirst") written or published by Andric in 1918-1960. Most of them are based on specific historical material and thematically grouped around two important eras in the life of Bosnia: the period of Ottoman rule (146378) and the period of Austro-Hungarian occupation (18781918).
