For the first time in Russian, a collection of novels about the actions of the founder of Hasidism Baal-Shem-Tov, belonging to the pen of the founder of modern Hebrew literature, the largest Jewish prose writer Shmuel-Joseph Agnon (1888–1970) The author was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature “for his profound insight into the life of the Jewish people, which became the leitmotif of his work, and the skill of the narrator”, as well as twice the Israel Prize and the Bialik Prize .. Born in Galicia, Agnon immigrated to Israel. His works have been translated into many languages and are widely known throughout the world. Agnon's work is distinguished by a subtle nuance in the transmission of the constantly changing life circumstances of the characters, their passions, poetic retreats and caustic satire. The collection “Stories about Baal Shem Tov” Agnon compiled back in 1921, but the volume prepared for printing burned down with the writer’s house. He subsequently partially recovered his records, but they were published many years after his death.[citation needed]
