For a century and a half, since the first edition, there have been hundreds of studies on the “Word”, many amendments to the text have been proposed. In 1864. open copy made for Catherine II and carelessly published by P. P. Bakery . It has been published more carefully by P. K. Simony in 1890. The publication of "Literary Monuments" resorts only to the most necessary amendments, without setting itself the goal of reconstructing the "Word" as it could be created by the author. The publication is based on the text of the edition 1800 g. ; obvious errors are eliminated, occasionally corrections are introduced according to the Catherine copy; discrepancies are summed up.
