The two novels of the English writer Eleanor Glyn presented in the book are written in the best traditions of “lady novels”, but even among them they stand out for their special dynamism and captivating narrative. Their heroines are quite extraordinary in their appearance, and in their character, and in the fate of women, and are also peculiar to men, aristocrats not so much in origin as in their spiritual nobility. As often happens in the works of this genre, pride, jealousy and mutual misunderstanding raise a seemingly insurmountable barrier between ardent hearts, but passionate love eventually sweeps away all obstacles and, albeit in bizarre ways, leads heroes to happiness.
