Written 19011903 . The comedy “Man and Superman” did not immediately hit the stage. In such cases, Shaw usually printed his plays, but this time there was not even a publisher who would agree to release a new work of the playwright. Then Shaw published it himself (1903), and on the stage the comedy appeared only two years later. "Man and Superman" is one of Shaw's best plays; moreover, it is generally one of the best comedies of the XX century. Here we have a vivid example of the dramatization of ideas . The artistic power of the play is determined by the fact that the bearers of the author's ideas are vividly outlined characters. But the depiction of them is devoid of everyday plausibility, because, as usual with Shaw, the behavior of the actors is determined by the complex dialectics of the playwright’s ideological plan.
