The first volume of Karel apek's Collected Works includes stories from different years (1908-1938. ). For the first time in Russian translations, such important collections for the work of Karel apek as “Stories from one pocket” and “Stories from another pocket” are fully presented. Almost entirely given are the early collections Crucifixion and Painful Tales, which were the writer's response to the problems posed to Czechoslovakia by the First World War.
