This story began in the small provincial town of Midden. This city was not a special place that attracted tourists, and many people passing by were not even interested in its name, its history, and especially the people who inhabited it. But I, a tourist who came from afar, was interested in everything, I don’t know why, but it seemed to me that this city was some kind of special place for an aspiring writer looking for a worthy story for his new novel. And I found her in a small cafe in the form of an old man playing chess in the corner, whose name was Lawrence Merlon. Noticing me, he decided to sit down at my table and tell me one of his stories, which I later decided to put into the basis of my new novel.
