"Bose's Essays" . Sketches by Boz is a collection of short works by Charles Dickens originally published in various newspapers and other periodicals between 1833 and 1836. It was published as a book under its current title in February and August 1836 with illustrations by George Crookshank. The first complete edition appeared in 1839. 56 sketches relate to London scenes and people, and all work is divided into four parts: "Our Parish", "Scenes", "Characters" and "Fairy Tales" Welcome to the cheerful city of Madfog, whose inhabitants are sure that there are no more beautiful representatives of the human race on earth than themselves. Here the mayor becomes a former lover of drink and regularly hold congresses of learned husbands to improve everything on-the-light. Published in 1837-39 in Bentley's Miscellany. Some editions of the collection "Bose's Essays" include separate stories "Madfog Notes", or the entire cycle in full.
