Popov's "Domestic War of 1812" is devoted directly to combat episodes: the first stage of the war - from Neman to the capture of Moscow by Napoleon's army and the stay of the French in it, as well as events in Russia during this period. The volume is written on the basis of the study of a huge number of sources and materials: official documents, letters, diaries, memoirs, many of which have not been published to date. As a separate book, this monograph is published for the first time: the composition of the volume includes chapters and parts published only in the journals "Russian Archive" and "Russian Starina" in the 1870s - 1890s. In particular, the volume includes two parts: "Moscow in 1812" and "The French in Moscow in 1812", for which the author received the Uvarov Prize in 1877.
