Baysswenger . - M. : New Literary Review, 2014. — 328 s: il. (Historia Rossica series), ISBN 978-5-4448-0176-5. The granddaughter of Russian refugees, Catherine Guseff was brought up on the legends of the Russian exile. However, as a professional historian, she criticizes popular myths about emigration and presents the reader with a complex canvas of research. In which statistics are collected, Survey materials, Interview , Memories , Archival Documents of Government Agencies , International and Immigrant Organisations . Unlike many studies on the Russian diaspora, which focus on the emigre elite, Guseff’s book describes the entire Russian community in exile. The author notes that the elite made up a small part of the refugees, but it played an important role in the fate of the Russian community, recreating the social structure of pre-revolutionary times and thus bringing Russia in miniature to the French land. The monograph presents the history of resettlement and employment of Russian refugees, institutionalization of refugee status and becoming a stateless person.
