The textbook is compiled on the basis of the program on pharmacognosy (specialty "Pharmacy"), approved by the Ministry of Education of the Russian Federation in 2002. The book provides general concepts concerning medicinal plants, medicinal animals and medicinal plant, as well as animal raw materials, practical aspects of resource science and procurements. The list of materials included in the manual was selected on the basis of the "Program" and the "State Register of Medicines" of the latest edition . Data on the distribution of specific medicinal plants, their harvesting, primary processing, drying and storage. are also provided. Normative documentation is indicated to form an idea about the analysis of finished medicinal raw materials, its purpose in medical practice; the main drugs manufactured on its basis are indicated.
