Monograph-review of the leading researcher of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory . The proposed review is the fruit of many years of bibliographic research. Having considered the strengths and weaknesses of all competing theories, the author singled out the rational grain of each of them. The resulting synthesis leads to the conclusion that a particular astronomical object, traditionally called the "Bethlehem Star" - the last link in the biannual sequence of rare astronomical phenomena. The proposed theory best explains both the logic of the astrological interpretation of the appearance of the "star" by the Magi, and the reaction that followed. The review is written from a humanistic standpoint, knowingly skeptical of any manifestation of the supernatural, so many of the author's statements regarding the nature and content of religious texts may seem controversial to a believing reader. But the more valuable are the conclusions drawn by the author as an unbiased researcher on the main subject of the review - astronomical phenomena that coincide with evangelical events in time. The book is intended for readers interested in history, astronomy, biblical studies.
