Collection of popular articles on astronomy . — L. : Thought, 1924. 240 s. with il. In compiling this collection, it was intended to give non-specialist readers a number of available and interesting information on astronomy. Almost all the articles are borrowed from the works of famous popularizers, such as Glasenap, Arrenius, Klein, Flammarion, etc. In the beginning, a number of essays on the history of astronomy in ancient times were placed, views and superstitions of the Middle Ages associated with various celestial phenomena and the struggle against astronomers who took the scientific path. Then there are questions concerning the solar system, and, in view of the special interest shown by the public to Mars, this planet is devoted to three articles treating the phenomena occurring on it from different points of view. Next, we are talking about stars and nebulae, and finally, some modern cosmogonic hypotheses are given. In addition, in view of the transition to a new style and to the international account of time, these issues are devoted to two articles. The book is designed for a reader with at least basic knowledge of the solar system and some knowledge of physics, although perhaps some articles relating to the latest research (for example, the article Enic) may seem somewhat difficult. Of course, this collection does not cover many interesting questions of astronomy, but I believe that, nevertheless, it will somewhat fill the gap that currently exists in popular astronomical literature.
