The textbook outlines the basics of general geology, crystallography, mineralogy and petrography, historical and structural geology, as well as general ideas about the geological structure of the USSR. Issues of origin, geology and patterns of distribution of mineral deposits are covered, a special place is given to solid combustible minerals (coal, combustible shales). Brief information is given about the basics of geological mapping, the methods of prospecting and exploration, testing and calculation of reserves. The problems of mine geology in the development of coal deposits are considered. The textbook is intended for students of secondary educational institutions and corresponds to the programs of the courses "Markscheiderskoe Delo" and "Underground development of coal deposits" . The textbook deals with very important issues of mine geology, hydrogeology and engineering geology to the extent necessary to predict the mining and geological conditions for the development of coal deposits. A special place in the textbook is given to general issues of geology of deposits and especially to mining and geological conditions of their development. The Geology textbook includes three parts. The first, general geological part consists of three chapters written by associate professor A. P. Bakaldina, 12, 13 compiled by Professor B. M. Zeisler . The first chapter is devoted to the characteristics of the structure of the Earth, its position in the world space and origin, the study of modern processes of putrennoe and external geodynamics .. Second, crystallography, mineralogy and petrography. The third is devoted to the analysis of rock formation forms, determination of their age, tectonic zoning. The second and third special geological parts are written by Professor A. and . Kravtsov . They set out general questions of the doctrine of minerals and geology of their deposits, but a special place is given to solid combustible minerals (coal, combustible shale). The basics of prospecting and exploration of mineral deposits are considered. Much attention is paid to the methods and techniques of operational exploration in the process of mineral deposits development. The last section of the textbook is written by prof. In. M. Zeissler and dedicated to environmental issues.
