The proposed edition is the first Russian translation of the 54th volume of the Complete Works of Martin Heidegger, a thinker whose methodological and substantive ideas determined the course of development of European philosophy over the past century. The lectures contained in this volume were given by Heidegger in the winter semester 1942/43. University of Freiburg (Breisgau). The theme of them was the "goddess Truth" (Aletheia), which man's view faces in the famous fragment of Parmenides' didactic poem "On Nature" .. The truth, which is interpreted as the "indiscretion of existence" and has undergone significant changes in the history of existence, is considered here along with its opposite, "hiddenness", which has become synonymous with lies, delusion and oblivion (immersion in the Age) .. The author interprets the myth of truth and forgetfulness of truth, attracting for this the phenomenon of the “political character” of the Platonic policy. The way in which a person goes to his death, surrounded by the presence of the being in the polis, leads him to the question of how this being is present after his death, in the horizon of all-removing concealment, and therefore about the nature of the gods, as it was understood by the ancient Greeks. At the same time, the concept of “look” becomes central the look of the gods and the human gaze, before which the terrifying essence of the everyday is revealed.
