Pierre de la Ramée (Prierre de la Ramée, Petrus Ramus), occupies a prominent place in the history of science of the XVI century. Ramus has considerable merit in the formation of a new scientific worldview .. For a long time, the name of Ramus was undeservedly forgotten, he was remembered by few. Voltaire recalls him only in connection with the dramatic events of Bartholomew's Night, a massacre in which "a Protestant and a follower of Plato" Ramus was killed by students and a university professor to "teach Catholic souls". Gradually, since the middle of the XIX century, his name is due to the works of B. Cousin, Sh. Waddington, E. Sesse is reanimated in the historical memory of the French people, in Russian philosophy about him with reverence say A. and . Herzen and T. N. Granovsky . But it was not until the twentieth century that works began to be considered in many courses in the history of science and philosophy. The doctrine of Ramus, called "Ramism", played a role in the history of philosophy, only slightly inferior to Cartesianism. The personality of Ramus itself attracts attention, bright and peculiar, a combination in his character of the ability to extreme self-deepening of the scientist with the extraordinary passion of the fighter, which invariably forced him to rush into the thick of the dramatic events of the French Renaissance around him. Ramus sharply criticized medieval Aristotelianism and the scholastic traditions that hampered the development of science, was an outstanding promoter of science, the author of numerous textbooks on mathematics, logic, grammar. Book of Doctor of Physical and Mathematical Sciences G. P. Matviyevskaya is devoted to the life and work of Pierre Ramus, professor at the College of Navarre in Paris, one of the most prominent scientists of France of the XVI century - philosopher, mathematician, teacher, passionate fighter for the reform of the education system.
