"The Taming of the Shrew" or "Taming of the Shrew" is a comedy play in verses by the English playwright William Shakespeare. This is a story about the sharp-tongued Kateryna and her sister Bianca, who are looking for husbands. The girls' father sets a condition - Kateryna must marry first, until a man is found for her. This problem leads to comic situations and a number of misunderstandings. The play explores the relationship between the sexes and the issue of female independence in 16th century society. Shakespeare successfully combined humor and philosophy, and "The Taming of the Shrew" remains one of his most famous comedies to this day.
