The Histories of Tacitus is an important historical work on Roman history, written by the famous Roman historian Cornelius Tacitus. In this book, the author tells about the events that took place in the Roman Empire in the first centuries of our era, in particular, about the period after the death of Nero and the rule of four subsequent Roman emperors (Galba, Otho, Vitellius, Vespasian). Tacitus carefully examines the political and social aspects of that time, reveals various intrigues, battles and internal contradictions of the Roman Empire.
For a long time Tacitus' Histories remained one of the most important sources of knowledge about early imperial history. They not only reflect historical events and important figures, but also reveal the complex political and social processes of the ancient Roman world. Because of its great importance for the study of early Rome, Tacitus' Histories remain popular among historians and of interest to a wide range of readers interested in antiquity and classical history.
