"The Family at Hille: A Home Story of the Forties" is an exciting novel by the Norwegian writer Jonas Lije. The book tells about the life of an ordinary family in a Norwegian village in the early 1840s.
The main character, young and intelligent Inge, decides to marry a man who, in her opinion, will save her from all troubles. However, marriage is far from becoming a fairy tale for her, because she faces the difficulties of home life, undergoes various tests and problems.
The author depicts the relationship between different family members, showing their joys, sorrows, contradictions and secrets. "Family in Guille" is a story about love, family relations, solidarity and loyalty, which remains relevant even today.
