The book is based on a course of lectures on general astrophysics, which for many years have been read by the authors to students of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University .. Some questions are set out in more depth than traditional general courses. The book discusses the main mechanisms of interaction of radiation with matter, modern methods of astronomical observations, physical processes in the interstellar medium, the formation of stars, their structure and evolution, the formation of compact objects, elements of galaxy physics and modern cosmology. In general, the authors provide a general physical picture of the structure and evolution of the universe. Foreword: This book is written on the basis of a course of lectures on general astrophysics, read by the authors to students of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University . M. In. Lomonosov . The peculiarity of astrophysics as a subject lies primarily in its versatility and in the wide coverage of the phenomena studied - from the sparse interplanetary and interstellar medium to the ultradense state of matter in the bowels of white dwarfs and neutron stars. from solar system bodies and the nearest cosmos to the entire universe, Considered as a whole . The second feature is the rapid development of astrophysics, the continuous emergence of new observational data, the development and verification of theoretical schemes and hypotheses. This complicates the selection of material that may be included in the training manual. The authors did not seek to tell about all the important things known at the time of writing the book, trying to focus on key issues. Each astrophysical phenomenon or object has a number of specific features and features that often require individual consideration and description. The mere presentation of phenomenological facts about stars or components of the interstellar medium can form the subject of a separate book. The proposed book is somewhat broader in content than traditional courses in general astrophysics. It emphasizes the explanation of the basic physical processes occurring in space objects and environments. At the same time, the facts necessary for understanding a phenomenon are given only in a minimal amount .. The book was prepared primarily for readers who have acquired knowledge in the framework of the general university course in physics, and does not require special knowledge in astronomy. Part of the auxiliary material from the course of general physics, as well as the mathematical conclusions of some of the formulas used, are given in Appendix. When preparing the manuscript, we used specialized editions and monographs, a large part of which is reflected in the list of references at the end of the book. We hope that this book will serve as an introduction to the modern problems of astrophysics and help the reader to get acquainted with the astrophysical picture of the world - to the extent sufficient to make it possible to study in depth the specific areas of this rapidly developing field of knowledge. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to our colleagues at .. A. Baturin, B. K. Konnikova, V. G. Kornilovu, S. A. Lamsina, M. A. Lifshitsu, A. D. Chernin and especially Academician A. M. Skull pike, who took on the difficult work of reading individual chapters of the manuscript and made many valuable comments We are also deeply grateful to .. N. Sementsov and A. Yu. Kochetkova for assistance in the design of the manuscript, as well as other colleagues whose comments we tried to take into account . It so happened that the work on the book was completed in 2006, which marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of a remarkable scientist and teacher, our teacher, longtime head of the Department of Astrophysics and Star Astronomy of the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University Professor Dmitry Yakovlevich Martynov .. Our book continues and develops his wonderful textbook on general astrophysics, the latest edition of which was published in 1988, and on which many generations of students are brought up.
