Records of the Grand Historianis the first general history presented in a series of biographies in the history of China, and it records the Chinese history from the Yellow Emperor to the Emperor Wu of Han (122 B.C.), covering a time span of more than 3000 years.With the historical insight of 'creating a philosophy of his own by figuring out the relationship between heaven and mankind and studying on the history of ancient times', the author Sima Qian wrote the immortal masterpiece which has a profound influence on the development of later history and literature. The biographical history created by him is inherited by the official histories of successive dynasties. At the same time, Records of the Grand Historian is considered to be an excellent literary work and has an important position in the history of Chinese literature. Even Lu Xun regarded it as 'the historians' most perfect song, a 'Li Sao' without the rhyme'.
