The Sanskrit text Bhägavata Puräna gives a detailed account of the earth as a disk, divided into a series of concentric, ring-shaped oceans and islands. This paper explores the hypothesis that the earth disk can be interpreted as a geocentric map of the solar system, showing how the planets approach and recede from the earth.
