A Customer Review of this book: "Although the title of this sixth volume in the Durants' "Story of Civilization" series is "The Reformation," it is far more than a history of the Reformation itself. Rather, it is a comprehensive history of Western Civilization during the era that formed the background for the Reformation. In addition to the movements that led up to Luther and the other Reformers (such as the work of Wycliffe, Hus, and others, along with the Council of Constance and other crucial events), Durant tells the stories of the various monarchies of the era, discusses the rise of nationalist sentiment, and provides incredible insight into the culture of the time. This book goes far beyond most histories of the period in detail and scope. Although written more than fifty years ago, it remains a great source of information today."
