This collection of works and letters by Afanasy Afanasyevich Fet (1820-1892) is the first attempt to publish with the possible completeness of the diverse heritage of the great Russian poet. Since pre-revolutionary times, there has been a publishing tradition to extract from this heritage only its own poetic, lyrical part, considering the rest not worthy of attention. The wording of this meeting seems to be deeply wrong. Athanasius Fet reflected in his work not only the psychology of man of his time, but the Russian man of all times - and in this respect he is very close to modernity. The personality and lyrical creativity of the poet have been actively studied since the beginning of the 20th century .. Studies supported by "cut-off" publications have been marked by both undoubted achievements and some one-sidedness. The latter was expressed, in particular, in the idea of Feth as a “split” personality, in which her everyday side (cavalry officer, then a successful landowner farmer, author of “conservative” political and . [ Fet himself repeatedly, but unsuccessfully tried to explain the specifics of his own "wholeness" - but was not understood by his contemporaries, nor by his closest descendants. Recently, in literary science, those ideas and "legends" about Fet, which were born by Russian symbolists, are increasingly being questioned. At the same time, a comprehensive study of the poet's work is impossible without a full publication of his legacy, scattered across a variety of, sometimes difficult to access, sources. Unfortunately, the current state of Fet's heritage studies does not allow us to raise the question of his commented academic publication - this is a matter of the future. We hope that this meeting will be an important step towards achieving this goal. In this collection, according to the genre-chronological principle, all the main aspects of his literary work are presented.
