his book is a variation on Impulse & Initiative/To Conquer Mr. Darcy, and should not be considered a completely separate novel. The first third of the books are virtuallyidentical, but after that the plots diverge substantially. In my opinion, Impulse & Initiative is a stronger book, but The Rule of Reason has some segments which I particularly like. I'm making this available at the request of several readers, but it won't be sold outside Lulu. The premise is the same as for Impulse & Initiative, but in the library scene at Pemberley, Darcy and Elizabeth make a different decision. As a result, they do not marry in Derbyshire, and the action that follows is quite different. This book, like From Lambton to Longbourn, contains no graphic scenes.
