"The Free Spirit" is a philosophical treatise by the German writer Gottfried Ephraim Lessing, which was published in 1749. In the book, the author expresses his ideas about faith, religion, morality and society. Lessing argues for the need for freedom of thought and expression, and also expresses his views on what an ideal society should be. This book became one of the key works of the German Enlightenment and influenced the further development of philosophy and literature.
