The book "Two Open Letters to Dr. J. Spet, Professor of Obstetrics at the Imperial Academy of Emperor Joseph in Vienna, and to Dr. F. V. Schanzoni, Professor of Obstetrics in Würzburg" is an outstanding work of the Hungarian doctor Ignats Fülep Zemelvais (Szemelvais) devoted to the problem dangerous spread of gangrene in hospitals. In it, the author presents the results of his research and study, which prove that careful observance of personal hygiene by medical workers can significantly reduce mortality among pregnant women. This book became the starting point in the introduction of antiseptic procedures in the hygiene of breeds, which subsequently saved thousands of lives. This is not only a scientific work on obstetrics, but also a literary monument that forced the world to rethink the methods of combating infections in medicine.
