In this world you can only be a saint or only a magician. The Empire has been living by these rules for many years, defending its right to balance and brutally persecuting anyone who breaks the rules. Typically, at age fifteen, gifted teenagers enter an academy after being homeschooled, make friends, get a diploma, and live a happy life. For Richard, rejected by his family, this was always a pipe dream. But a war is knocking on the doors of the Empire with those who are against balance, rules and strict separation. Today we need everyone who knows how to do at least a little magic or bless. And Richard had a chance. A chance to prove that he is not mediocrity.
